Dr. Nancy B. Mizelle is Chair of Early Childhood and Middle Grades and Professor of Middle Grades education in the John H. Lounsbury School of Education, Georgia College & State University where she teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs. She is the Advisor for the Georgia College chapter of the Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA) and presently is serving as Chairperson for the National CMLA Board of Advisors. She is also an elected member of the Council for the Middle Level Education Research Special Interest Group (MLER SIG) of the American Educational Research Association (AERA).

Dr. Mizelle annually performs site-evaluations for Georgia’s Lighthouse Schools program and she is helping organize the spring 2010 Southeast Regional Middle Level Teacher Education Symposium with North and South Carolina. Her research focuses on young adolescents’ literacy development, young adolescents’ transition into high school, and teacher preparation; and her articles have appeared in Research in Middle Level Education Quarterly, Educational Leadership, and the Middle School Journal. She regularly reviews for MSJ, RMLEQ, and Middle Grades Research Journal and acts as a program reviewer for NMSA/NCATE.
